Well, personally I just give the command to my brain to stop bothering me and send all sorts of thoughts. Like, sorry, friend, come on tomorrow! I'll think it over, I promise you, but not now. Now I want to sleep!
But! I know a lot of people who use completely different techniques and techniques. Some include relaxing music, nature sounds, or white noise.
Others - consider sheep or other large-caliber animals.
Still others - insert earplugs, put on a bandage for sleeping and go to the world of Morpheus in this simple outfit.
Recipes, as you can see, are different for everyone.
But what I completely agree with is that we need to relax ourselves before bed. So that the brain, agitated by your activity, stops sending you thoughts, to moderate the ardor, as said. The brain should switched to a different range and started getting ready for bed.
That is why all sorts of extinguishing games are not recommended before bed. You need to do something calm, preparing the body to go into the world of dreams.
How do you think, why do athletes after a football match, duel, performances - often cannot fall asleep all night. Because their activity made the brain work more actively. Analyze mistakes made, express emotions and so on.
“Okay!,” - you say. "So we will relax ourselves. How to do it?"
Here, again, there is no one secret and no recipe. Everyone relaxes as he wants and so desires.
Someone is reading a book, someone is drinking a couple of glasses of wine and/or having sex (yes, it works too!).

Someone perfectly relaxes and falls asleep to the sound of train wheels.
